Budding stars: Winners of chess tournament conducted by Mylapore Club.

The Mylapore Club recently held its state level children's chess tournament, which attracted over 450 entries from schools all over the city. The tournament, sponsored by the Murugappa Group's AMM Foundation, comprised competition for boys and girls in the under-8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 age groups. During the prize distribution ceremony, the winners in all the categories took home bicycles courtesy TI Cycles. P.B. Santhanakrishnan, Secretary, Mylapore Club, welcomed the gathering. R. Venkatakrishnan, Director – Schools, AMM Foundation, was the chief guest.

Aside from this event, the club has also been involved in promoting sports among children through its year-round academies, which encompass tennis, cricket, badminton, bridge, snooker, chess and table tennis.
